UScellular Named Top Workplace in Six States

The pandemic has changed our lives considerably over the past two years; but what hasn’t changed is the dedication I have seen among our associates at UScellular. It has only reinforced for me that UScellular is a special place to work and grow a career.

Every day, our associates showcase our culture of collaboration through their interactions with our customers and with each other. Our associates have been able to navigate these difficult waters in large part because of our culture. We had a foundation of values and behaviors that existed prior to the word “pandemic” entering our lexicon.

People everywhere are re-evaluating their work, their career paths and their next direction. In a climate when everything is being re-assessed, I can say with confidence that UScellular actively strives to be a place that provides opportunities for career advancement in a culture that is rooted in diversity, respect, empowerment and innovation. And I’m not the only one who’s saying this, our associates agree with me.

Our Awards

In 2021, we won six Top Workplace Awards across our regions that are based on associate feedback. It was because of their responses, that we were presented Top Workplace Awards in these states:

We’re a great place to work because we strive to create an environment of inclusion and belonging. Our efforts have garnered us recognition as One of the Best Companies for Multicultural Women, and we made Forbes List of Best Employers for Diversity. Diverse perspectives inspire innovation; and having the ability to innovate and adapt are among the needed key capabilities for how we approach this new workplace landscape.

How We Are Approaching Reopening our Doors

For the last two challenging years, our stores stayed open so that our associates could continue to serve our customers with excellence. In mid-March, we opened our doors to the remainder of our associates, returning to our major office locations and evolving to a hybrid working model.

The way we returned into our hybrid working model was carefully planned.  To be responsive to changing needs, we’ve implemented going back to work "on purpose for a purpose." Instead of having an arbitrary number of days that our associates must come into the office, on purpose for a purpose means that every in-person interaction is intentional. Time that we spend in person will be for things like staff meetings, training or associate celebrations – and not because it’s a certain day of the week. And if you’re someone who likes to go into the office outside of those events, you can!

It’s a great point of pride to be able to share the awards we have won for our workplace culture, but awards are merely a recognition of and for the dedicated associates working here every day. It is the people that make this a great place to learn, grow and thrive – a place we hope you will consider as you navigate your career.
