Our Sustainability Commitments to Our Communities and Our Planet

UScellular is focused on building a better future by caring for the environment. We’re on a journey to address our environmental impact in our entire footprint from operations to supply chain. By implementing sustainable practices to lead the industry forward, we’re providing our associates with a healthy work environment and engaging in traditional and innovative partnerships to build a culture of sustainability to serve our communities and our planet.

We’re honoring this Sustainability Day by sharing an update on ways we are building a more sustainable future. Check out our newly launched sustainability page that highlights efforts and actions taken.

A few highlights you’ll see include:

Sustainable Energy Management

  • In collaboration with ComEd and Franklin Energy, UScellular made significant enhancements to its operations, specifically at its data center in Schaumburg, Ill.to become more efficient and sustainable. The updates resulted in savings of nearly 8 million kilowatt hours per year.
  • The UScellular Tulsa Customer Care Center facility was awarded Energy Star Certification in 2022. This is the second time the facility has received this certification in five years.
  • UScellular is exploring alternative energy projects with solar energy pilot programs at the UScellular Knoxville Data Center and Customer Care Center, and electric vehicle charging stations installed at UScellular Brookfield, Wis. and Knoxville, Tenn. Data Center and Customer Care Center locations.

Minimizing Waste

  • In 2021, through our Trade-In program, UScellular recycled or repurposed nearly 187,000 devices through our Trade-In program. This effort resulted in 83,980 pounds of e-waste being diverted from landfills.

As we continue to make progress on our sustainability journey, we will continue to implement enhancements, make the necessary changes and track our progress. We invite you to periodically check out our sustainability page to learn more about our actions in addressing our environmental impacts on our communities and our planet.
