UScellular Encourages STEM Learning with ‘Ask an Engineer’ Event

UScellular engineers visited the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Tennessee Valley’s Regal Entertainment Teen Center and Haslam Family Club University to drive interest in engineering careers.

The engineers discussed the fields of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and offered a birds-eye view of what telecommunication engineering looks like. A presentation walked youth through the process of network connectivity and the technology used daily. Students were also able to explore a UScellular truck and all-terrain vehicle (ATV) that is used by on-site tower engineers to ensure network connectivity for customers.

“UScellular engineers shared valuable insights about careers in STEM with our club members, who were eager to learn more,” said Angel Fishback, director of the Regal Entertainment Teen Center. “It was a great opportunity for them to explore new possibilities for careers and get excited about their future.”

UScellular is focused on addressing gaps in STEM education and is connecting more than 200,000 of tomorrow’s innovators each year with the resources they need to help shape future opportunities.
