UScellular Awarded Nearly $370,000 from the MCA Jumpstart Connectivity Initiative

UScellular has received $369,600 from the Maine Connectivity Authority’s (MCA) Jumpstart Connectivity Initiative (Jumpstart) to enhance mobile and in-home connectivity for residents in Piscataquis and Somerset Counties.  This funding will allow UScellular to upgrade four cell sites with 5G wireless technology to bring reliable, high-speed internet access to rural parts of the area.

Tabatha McKay, area vice president and general manager for UScellular in New England, said, “We applaud the MCA for taking an innovative approach to bring access to hard-to-reach areas of Maine. Investing in wireless technology helps ensure that people have connectivity at home, at work and virtually anywhere else, and we look forward to putting this funding to work to ensure Mainers can be connected to the people and places that matter most.”

More information is in the MCA's announcement here.
