Boys & Girls Clubs of America
Connecting to STEM Education
For nearly a decade, UScellular has partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America to provide youth with important tools to reach their full potential. We provide a total of $1 million in grants to local Clubs to support 170,000 youth with STEM education resources and experiences annually. Find out how we are continuing our partnership.
Creating Unique
STEM Experiences
Our 2023 partnership commitment continued by enhancing STEM education and experiences for 20 Clubs across the country. UScellular provided new laptops and 3D printers, expanded programming to include digital citizenship and LEGO robotics, and enriched learning experiences with field trips and family STEM nights.
Black History Month Art Contest
In honor of Black History Month, Boys & Girls Club members at 30 Clubs were encouraged to create original pieces of artwork of important historical figures, world leaders, scientists and educators who have made vital contributions to the world of STEM. Ten finalists were chosen by representatives from the Boys & Girls Club and local UScellular leaders based on creativity, quality, interpretation, clarity of theme and overall impression. Public voting for the finalists was made available online throughout the month of February. In addition, the finalists’ artwork was digitally displayed in select stores.
Ask an Engineer
During one of our favorite events of the year UScellular engineers visited Boys & Girls Club of Tennessee Valley's Regal Entertainment Teen Center and Haslam Family Club University to drive interest in engineering careers. Following a presentation on the process of network connectivity, Club members explored a UScellular truck and all-terrain vehicles used by on-site tower engineers.
Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest
For the third year in a row, UScellular hosted its Hispanic Heritage Month Art Contest, another way in which members of the Boys & Girls Clubs can create original pieces of art that feature important leaders and contributors to STEM. This year, six Clubs across UScellular’s service areas participated in the art contest.
From mid- to late-September, the public voted online to determine the winners. The top vote-getters from each Club were given gift cards for the following amounts: 1st Place, $250; 2nd Place, $150; 3rd Place, $100.
